FAA test data, 2025

About 1 in 10 PAR attempts failed last year. A fail costs money and weeks.

44,657 attempts in 2025, 89.56% passed (10.4% didn't): FAA Airman Knowledge Test report, CY2025. After a fail you pay again and need more training plus your instructor's written OK before the retest (14 CFR 61.49).

Where the points are

The FAA publishes how the PAR is weighted. Preflight Preparation, Takeoffs, Landings, and Go-Arounds, Preflight Procedures: 55% of the test.

Questions people ask before they buy

Do I get the endorsement I need to take the test?

No, and nobody should sell you this page as if you did. To sit the PAR you need a logbook endorsement from an authorized instructor who trained you or reviewed your home-study course (14 CFR 61.35 and 61.103(d)). Most students get it from their flight instructor. Rotate Pilot is a study tool: bring your simulation reports to that conversation.

Is this the FAA test itself?

No. The PAR is taken in person at a PSI testing center. The Private Pilot Pass prepares you for it. Rotate Pilot is not affiliated with the FAA or PSI.

How much is the PAR and how do I book it?

About $175, paid to PSI. You need an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) from IACRA and your instructor's endorsement, then you book with PSI.

What exactly does the guarantee require?

Finish the course and score 85% or higher on 3 full PAR simulations within the 30 days before your FAA test. If you still don't pass on your first attempt, send us your test report within 30 days and we refund 100% of what you paid and send you $175 toward your retest. Separately: 30-day refund, no questions asked, as long as you haven't finished the course.

What does the $119 version add?

The Checkride Oral Pass: voice mock orals graded by ACS task, with follow-up questions like an examiner, and the PPL Oral Exam Guide (PDF) to keep. Its 30 days of mock orals start the first time you begin one, so you can save them for the weeks before your checkride. On its own it's $79.

Does it cover the figure-supplement questions?

Partly, and we'd rather tell you. The real test hands you the FAA-CT-8080-2H supplement (charts, performance tables, instruments). A few of our questions use those figures today and more are being added; most chart and performance questions give you the data in the question itself.

I already failed once. Can this help?

Yes. Your test report lists the ACS codes you missed, and every question here is tagged with the same codes, so you can start exactly there. You'll also need more training and your instructor's written OK before the retest (14 CFR 61.49).

Is this a subscription?

No. $69 (or $119 with the oral) once, with lifetime access to the course and the simulations. 30-day refund, no questions asked, as long as you haven't finished the course.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Lessons, simulations and the readiness report are built for phones first.
