The FAA Private Pilot Certificate allows you to fly single-engine aircraft for personal use throughout the United States. It is the most common starting point for aspiring pilots in the US, with a relatively flexible training structure that accommodates both full-time and part-time students.
Anforderungen
- Minimum age: 17 years old (solo at 16)
- Class 3 medical certificate or BasicMed
- 40 hours minimum flight time (national average 60-70 hours)
- 20 hours dual instruction
- 10 hours solo flight including 5 hours cross-country
- 3 hours night flying with 10 night takeoffs and landings
- 3 hours instrument training
- Pass FAA Knowledge Test (70% minimum)
- Pass practical test (checkride) with DPE
