Airspace Classification

Definition

The division of airspace into classes (A through G) with different rules for entry, equipment, and pilot qualification. Class A is the most restrictive (IFR only above FL180) and Class G is uncontrolled.

Why Airspace Classification Matters for Pilots

Regulatory knowledge is heavily tested on FAA and EASA written exams. Understanding Airspace Classification helps you stay compliant with aviation rules and avoid certificate actions. Examiners frequently ask about regulations during oral checkrides, so knowing Airspace Classification inside and out is essential.
