Exception for Limited Recreational Operations
Recreational flyers are exempt from Part 107 if they follow specific rules: fly for recreation only, follow CBO safety guidelines, keep below 400 ft in uncontrolled airspace, and pass the TRUST test.
Remote ID for Recreational Drones
All drones over 0.55 lbs must have Remote ID capability, even for recreational use. You can use a Standard Remote ID drone, a broadcast module, or fly in an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA).
Drone Registration
All drones weighing between 0.55 lbs and 55 lbs must be registered with the FAA ($5 for 3 years). Registration number must be visible on the aircraft.

How much does the TRUST test cost?
The TRUST test is completely free. Several FAA-approved test administrators offer it online, including Pilot Institute, The Drone Racing League, and UAV Coach. It takes about 20-30 minutes.
Do I need TRUST if I already have Part 107?
No. Part 107 certificate holders do not need to complete TRUST. The TRUST test is only for recreational flyers operating under 49 USC 44809.
