Definition

An instrument showing the rate and direction of turn and coordination quality via the slip-skid ball. A standard rate turn (3 degrees per second) is indicated when the miniature aircraft wing aligns with the mark.

Why Turn Coordinator Matters for Pilots

Instrument knowledge is tested on every pilot certificate exam. Understanding how Turn Coordinator works helps you interpret cockpit information correctly and recognize instrument failures before they become emergencies. This knowledge is especially critical for instrument-rated pilots flying in reduced visibility.
