Entry routes and how the process is structured

Emirates hires experienced, widebody-bound pilots through several streams, plus an ab-initio academy that is a separate company and does not guarantee an Emirates job.

  • Emirates runs four experienced-pilot streams: Direct Entry Captain, Accelerated Command, First Officer Type-Rated, and First Officer Non-Type-Rated.
  • All flying is widebody out of Dubai (DXB) only — there is no narrowbody fleet and no base other than Dubai.
  • The fleet is Airbus A380, Boeing 777, and the incoming Airbus A350; new First Officers commonly start on the 777.candidate-reported

Requirements and eligibility

Stage 1 — online: video interview and psychometrics

Done remotely before any travel. Tone is reported as relaxed; the screening is heavily HR/competency-based at this point.

Stage 2 — the COMPASS aptitude battery (Dubai)

On-site in Dubai. COMPASS is widely reported by candidates and prep vendors; treat it as the commonly-described aptitude stage rather than an officially named test.

A separate route for those without an airline licence yet. Selection and timeline differ entirely from direct-entry pilot hiring.
