Rotate E6B Flight Computer — the E6B app for iPhone and iPad

Every calculation of a mechanical E6B, in your pocket, working with no signal. Wind triangle, speed/distance/time, fuel burn, density altitude and the aviation unit conversions that turn up inside exam questions.

Want this E6B on your phone when you are off Wi-Fi?

We are shipping Rotate E6B Flight Computer for iPhone and iPad on November 10, 2026 — the same math you just ran, working with no signal in the cockpit. You are on a desktop right now, so there is nothing to install today: leave your address and we will tell you the day it is out.

One email, once, on launch day. No newsletter, no sequence, unsubscribe never needed.

What it does

Wind side — the full wind triangle

True course, true airspeed, wind direction and speed in; ground speed, wind correction angle and true heading out. The same trigonometry the mechanical wheel approximates, solved exactly.

Speed, distance and time

Give it any two and it returns the third. The calculation you run most often in a cross-country, and the one that costs the most when you fumble it in the air.

Fuel burn and endurance

Fuel flow against time gives burn; fuel on board against flow gives endurance in hours and minutes. Reserves are your call, not the app's.

Density altitude and pressure altitude

Pressure altitude and OAT in, density altitude out, with the ISA deviation shown so you can see how far from standard the day actually is.

Unit conversions

Nautical and statute miles, kilometres, gallons, litres, pounds, kilograms, Celsius and Fahrenheit, feet and metres. The conversions that appear inside exam questions, not a general-purpose converter.

It works with no signal

Every calculation runs on the device. No account, no network call, nothing to load. That is the entire reason to have it as an app instead of a browser tab — a run-up area is exactly where the bars disappear.

You can use all of it right now, in this browser

There is no reason to wait for November 10, 2026 to get an answer today. The web version of the same tool is free, needs no account, and runs every calculation listed above. The app adds one thing the browser cannot: it keeps working when the connection does not.

Frequently asked questions

When does the Rotate E6B app come out?

function(){throw Error("Attempted to call E6B_LAUNCH_LABEL() from the server but E6B_LAUNCH_LABEL is on the client. It's not possible to invoke a client function from the server, it can only be rendered as a Component or passed to props of a Client Component.")}, on the iOS App Store, for iPhone and iPad. If you leave your address on this page you get the link that day and nothing else — this list exists for one message.

Is there an Android version?

Not at launch. iOS first because that is where we can ship and support one app properly. If you are on Android, the web E6B on this site does every calculation the app does and works in any mobile browser.

Do I need it, or is the web version enough?

If you always have signal, the web version is enough and it is free. The app exists for the case the web version cannot cover: no connection. Ramp, run-up, a hangar, a cross-country over places with no coverage.

Can I use an E6B app on the FAA written exam?

The FAA permits electronic flight computers at the testing centre, but the device must be inspected and placed in a state the proctor accepts — which in practice means a dedicated unit such as a CX-3, not your phone. Phones are not allowed in the testing room. Use the app to practise; expect to sit the exam with a mechanical E6B or an approved electronic flight computer.

Does it replace learning the mechanical E6B?

No, and it should not. Plenty of flight schools and examiners still ask a student to work a wind triangle on the wheel during a checkride. Learn the wheel; use the app when the answer is what you need rather than the demonstration.

E6B problems are on every FAA written exam

Knowing the tool is not the same as passing the questions built on it. Practise wind, fuel and density-altitude problems against real exam questions with worked explanations.
