B

The aircraft is South.

C

The aircraft is West.

Explanation

The Cooperstown (S32) airport symbol in Figure 26 shows a single runway aligned northwest-southeast, i.e. Runway 13/31. An aircraft landing on Runway 13 heads about 130 degrees (southeast); in a left-hand pattern the downwind leg lies to the pilot's left of the landing direction, which is the northeast side, so the airplane on midfield left downwind is east of the runway, flying about 310 degrees (AIM 4-3-3). It would be southwest (south/west) only in a right-hand pattern for Runway 13.
