weather servicesFAA-published sample question (PAR, Aug 2021)
You plan to phone a weather briefing facility for preflight weather information. You should
A
provide the number of occupants on board.
B
identify yourself as a pilot.✓ Correct Answer
C
begin with your route of flight.
Explanation
AIM 5-1-1 says that when you request a preflight briefing you should identify yourself as a pilot and then give background information: VFR or IFR, aircraft number or pilot's name, aircraft type, departure airport, route, destination, altitude(s), ETD and ETE. The number of occupants is not part of the briefing request. The route of flight is provided, but not as the opening item before you identify yourself as a pilot.
