Checkride Day Kit
More checkrides stall on missing paperwork than on flying. Pack the night before, lay everything out, and walk in calm. Here's the documents the examiner will ask for first, the gear you're expected to bring, and the guides to review one last time.
Required Documents (check these first)
- Photo ID (government-issued, with current address)
- Pilot certificate (student or current) and medical certificate
- Logbook with all required endorsements signed off
- IACRA application ID and signed 8710 / FTN
- Knowledge (written) test results — the original report
- Aircraft documents: airworthiness, registration, POH, weight & balance
- The examiner's fee, in the form they requested
Requirements vary by certificate and examiner. Confirm the exact list with your DPE and CFI before the date — this is a starting point, not legal advice.
Gear to Have on Hand
Examiners expect you to fly the practical with your own equipment. These are the staples that should be in your flight bag on checkride day.
Final Review (the night before)
The oral mirrors these question-and-answer guides almost line for line. Pick the one matching your checkride and skim it one more time.
