Why practice on current sectionals

Until October 26, 2026 every chart question on the Part 107 test pointed at a figure in the FAA testing supplement, so any prep that drilled those figures was enough. Now the FAA says the test includes images from current sectional charts that are not in the supplement. The symbols are the same; what changes is that you cannot memorise the figure. You have to read a chart you have never seen.

"I took the test on October 29th and scored a 100%. I had at least 3 chart questions of a cropped-in map, and I think two were asking what airspace a small magenta-colored airport was in."
Test-taker report sent to hello@rotatepilot.com, November 1, 2026. The answer: no dashed line and no vignette touching it, Class G; shaded vignette over it, Class E from 700 feet AGL. Eight of the 87 questions in the Pack ask exactly that. The same reader was also asked a CTAF frequency off a crop, what to do when taking real-estate photos near an airport, and which airspace sits 400 feet above a tower on a wider sectional (Class C, so authorization first). The Pack drills CTAF, obstacle tops and Class C shelves on the same kind of crops.

Every question in the Pack is a 640 × 480 crop of a current sectional at full print resolution. We only wrote questions whose answer is fixed by FAA data, checked each one against it, and had a second reviewer answer every question looking only at the image. Questions where the two disagreed were not published.

If you are starting from zero, the Part 107 Pass already includes these 87 questions, plus the lessons, the timed exams and the guarantee. Do not buy both.

Frequently asked questions

What is in the Part 107 Charts Pack?

87 practice questions on crops of the current FAA sectionals (Washington, Seattle, Las Vegas and Jacksonville (Savannah), edition of Oct 29, 2026), in the FAA's three-option format, each with an explanation and the FAA dataset the answer was checked against. All 87 are only in the Pack and the Part 107 Pass; the 16 free questions on this site are a separate set.

Is this the Part 107 Pass?

No. The Pack is chart practice only: no lessons, no timed exams, no AI tutor and no pass guarantee. The Part 107 Pass ($69 once) is the full course and already includes these questions. If you only need to practise the new image questions, the Pack is the cheaper way.

Are these the real FAA test questions?

No. They are practice in the style of the FAA's published samples. The FAA says the images used in active test questions cannot be previewed. These use crops of the current sectionals, which is what the FAA has shown since the October 26, 2026 change.

How do I get access after paying?

Right after checkout you get a link to the 87 questions, and the same link arrives by email. It is tied to your email, does not expire and needs no account. The same page has the printable PDF (83 questions plus the answer key). If you later buy the Part 107 Pass, the same questions are inside the course.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If the questions are not what you expected, reply to your receipt within 30 days and you get your money back. No pass guarantee is attached to the Pack: that is a feature of the Part 107 Pass only.
