Questions CTE teachers ask
Is the Part 107 certificate an Ohio industry-recognized credential?
Yes, on the legacy list. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce's 2029-and-Prior Industry Credential Master List (updated August 2026) lists CG65 "Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification", issuing agency Federal Aviation Administration, 6 points, in 8 career fields. Students from the class of 2030 on follow a new credential list; check the Department's IRC-2030 page for how Part 107 is treated there.
How many points does it give?
6 points on the legacy list. The Department's page says schools receive credit in the Prepared for Success measure for students who earn 12 points of approved credentials from its list, so Part 107 covers half of that. Your counselor has the rules for each graduation year.
Is Rotate Pilot approved by Ohio or the FAA?
No. Rotate Pilot is an independent test-prep course, not affiliated with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, the FAA or PSI. The credential is the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, issued by the FAA after the student passes the knowledge test at a PSI center. We prepare students for that test.
How old do students need to be?
Students can take the knowledge test from age 14, and the FAA issues the Remote Pilot Certificate from age 16 (14 CFR 107.61). Unused seats stay available for 12 months.
Can the district pay with a purchase order?
Yes. Send the PO from the form on this page or to hello@rotatepilot.com and we return an invoice with our W-9 and vendor details. Seats are activated on receipt of a signed PO. Card or ACH also work.
Does this replace our drone course?
No. It is the knowledge-test layer of your program: 32 lessons across the five ACS areas, 470+ practice questions with explanations and timed 60-question mock exams. Flight skills, simulators and your course of study stay with you.
What if a student fails the FAA test?
Each seat carries the same guarantee as the individual Pass: finish the course and score 85% or higher on 3 full-length simulations in the 30 days before the test. If that student still fails the first attempt, we refund the seat and add $175 toward the retest.
