Part 107 test prep for Oklahoma aviation classes

By Renzo Madueño, former Airbus A320 First Officer (Avianca), FAA commercial pilot ·
Oklahoma CareerTech's 2025-2026 STEM certification guide lists the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) for Aviation I through IV and Aerospace Capstone. Students only earn it by passing the $175 PSI knowledge test. Seats give each student the course, the practice bank and the mock exams, and give you one report of who is ready to test. Questions CTE teachers ask

Is Part 107 on Oklahoma CareerTech's certification guide?

Yes. The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education's 2025-2026 STEM Credential/Certification Guide lists "Remote Pilot Certificate - FAA 107 (2424)" as a certification choice for Aviation I (8874), Aviation II (8875), Aviation III - Pilot or UAS Drone (8876), Aviation IV, Aerospace Capstone (8883).

Which other certifications does the guide list for the aviation courses?

Next to Part 107, the aviation courses list Private Pilot Airplane - FAA Part 61 (2421), UAS Operator (2429), Trust Certificate (2420), plus the CareerTech Work Readiness Skills and Job Seeking & Retention assessments. Rotate Pilot prepares students for the Part 107 and Private Pilot knowledge tests.

Does this fit the UAS track of Aviation III?

Yes. ODCTE's 2026-2027 course code list names 8876 "Aviation III - Pilot or UAS Drone", and the guide lists Part 107 for that course.

Is Rotate Pilot approved by Oklahoma or the FAA?

No. Rotate Pilot is an independent test-prep course, not affiliated with Oklahoma CareerTech, the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the FAA or PSI. The credential is the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, issued by the FAA after the student passes the knowledge test at a PSI center. We prepare students for that test.

How old do students need to be?

Students can take the knowledge test from age 14, and the FAA issues the Remote Pilot Certificate from age 16 (14 CFR 107.61). Unused seats stay available for 12 months.

Can the district pay with a purchase order?

Yes. Send the PO from the form on this page or to hello@rotatepilot.com and we return an invoice with our W-9 and vendor details. Seats are activated on receipt of a signed PO. Card or ACH also work.

Does this replace our aviation curriculum?

No. It is the knowledge-test layer of your program: 32 lessons across the five ACS areas, 470+ practice questions with explanations and timed 60-question mock exams. Your curriculum, simulators and drone builds stay with you.

We already use the AOPA curriculum, LocoRobo or USI. Is this still useful?

Yes, as the last step before students pay the $175 PSI fee. Keep your curriculum and use the seats for the timed mock exams (60 scored questions plus 5 unscored, like the real test) and the per-student report of who is ready to book. 5 seats are $249.

What if a student fails the FAA test?

Each seat carries the same guarantee as the individual Pass: finish the course and score 85% or higher on 3 full-length simulations in the 30 days before the test. If that student still fails the first attempt, we refund the seat and add $175 toward the retest.
