Questions CTE teachers ask
Is the Part 107 certificate on the TEA IBC list?
Yes. TEA's 2025-2030 Industry-Based Certification List for Public School Accountability lists IBC ID 534, "FAA Part 107 Remote Drone Pilot", certifying entity Federal Aviation Administration, status Current, Tier 2. Check TEA's current CCMR guidance for how each tier counts in a given accountability year.
Is Rotate Pilot approved by TEA or the FAA?
No. Rotate Pilot is an independent test-prep course, not affiliated with TEA, the FAA or PSI. The credential your students earn is the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, issued by the FAA after they pass the knowledge test at a PSI center. We prepare them for that test.
How old do students need to be?
Students can take the knowledge test from age 14, and the FAA issues the Remote Pilot Certificate from age 16 (14 CFR 107.61). Unused seats stay available for 12 months.
Can the district pay with a purchase order?
Yes. Send the PO from the form on this page or to hello@rotatepilot.com and we return an invoice with our W-9 and vendor details. Seats are activated on receipt of a signed PO. Card or ACH also work.
Does this replace our drone course?
No. It is the knowledge-test layer of your program: 32 lessons across the five ACS areas, 470+ practice questions with explanations and timed 60-question mock exams. Flight skills, simulators and your course of study stay with you. Students can work on it in class or at home.
What does each student need to sign up?
A name and an email address for the login; a school-issued address works. The teacher gets one report with each student's lessons completed, mock scores and readiness, so you know who is ready to book the test.
What if a student fails the FAA test?
Each seat carries the same guarantee as the individual Pass: finish the course and score 85% or higher on 3 full-length simulations in the 30 days before the test. If that student still fails the first attempt, we refund the seat and add $175 toward the retest.
