  1. Question 1 · Instrument Rating

(Refer to FAA-CT-8080-3F, Figure 24.) While passing near the CORTEZ VOR, southbound on V187, contact is lost with Denver Center. You should attempt to reestablish contact with Denver Center on

    • A.118.575 MHz.
    • B.108.4 MHz.
    • C.122.3 MHz.
    Show answer and explanation

    Correct: A. 118.575 MHz.

In Figure 24, the scalloped box next to CORTEZ VOR reads "DENVER Cortez 118.575 348.7", which is the Denver Center remote communications frequency serving that area, so 118.575 MHz is where to try to regain contact. 122.3 above the Cortez VOR box is a Flight Service frequency, and 108.4 is the VOR navigation frequency itself.
