Full Review
The ASA Tri-Fold Kneeboard is the right kneeboard for 80% of pilots. The three-panel folding design gives you discrete real estate for your sectional chart excerpt, your written notes, and your checklist — all visible simultaneously when open. Close it and the contents are protected from spilled coffee and finger smudges.
Build quality is exactly what you'd expect from ASA — hard plastic shell over a nylon backing, simple velcro closure, and a wide elastic leg strap that grips flight suits, jeans, or shorts without slipping. The interior pocket holds a few approach plates or backup paperwork.
It doesn't hold an iPad. That's the point. If you want a paper kneeboard for notes and procedures, this is the one. If you want to mount an iPad, see the MyGoFlight or Sporty's options below. For under $40, the ASA Tri-Fold has been the right answer for 30+ years.
Our Verdict
The industry standard. Three folding panels give you chart, notes, and checklist real estate in a $35 package. Nothing else makes more sense for most pilots.
