Factorised hours — read this first

Wizz does not count logged hours directly for command minima. Hours in each category are multiplied by a factor from the table at onedoor.wizzair.com, and the factorised sum is what is tested against the minimum. Simulator hours are excluded throughout, and PIC means pilot in command — PICUS does not count.

Legal — Wizz Air Hungary

Unrestricted right to live and work in the EU, or in Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia or Ukraine; valid EASA ATPL or CPL; EASA Class 1 medical; ICAO English 4, 5 or 6

Legal — Wizz Air Malta

Same as Hungary, except Montenegro is not on the list of accepted non-EU right-to-work countries

Legal — Wizz Air UK

Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom; valid UK CAA ATPL or CPL; UK CAA Class 1 medical; ICAO English 4, 5 or 6. An EU right to work does not qualify for the UK AOC.

Direct Entry Captain — A320 type rated

3,500 factorised hours, a current Airbus A3xx full fly-by-wire type rating with IR combined in a valid licence, 500 hours actual flight time on the A320, and 1,000 hours actual PIC on Airbus A3xx full FBW aircraft

Direct Entry Captain — non type rated

3,500 factorised hours, a current multi-engine class or type rating with IR combined, and 1,000 hours PIC on certified multi-pilot multi-engine turbine aircraft above 50 tonnes MTOW in a public CAT environment — business and corporate flying is excluded

Direct Entry Captain Programme — Airbus FBW

3,500 factorised hours, a current Airbus A3xx full FBW type rating with IR, and 3,000 hours actual flight time plus 100 landings on the A320/A330/A340/A350/A380 combined

Direct Entry Captain Programme — turbojet

3,500 factorised hours, a current multi-engine rating with IR, and either 1,500 hours on certified MPA/MET jets above 50 tonnes in a public CAT environment, or 500 hours PIC on certified MPA/MET jets at or above 20 tonnes in any CAT environment including business and corporate

First Officer — A320 type rated

500 hours on the A320, current A320 and IR ratings combined in a valid licence, and completed ATPL theory if holding a CPL(A)

First Officer — non type rated

Current multi-engine class or type rating with IR, 500 hours on certified multi-pilot multi-engine aircraft in a CAT environment, completed ATPL theory if holding a CPL(A), and a completed JOC or APS-MCC (jet/fan) course evidenced by certificate or licence endorsement

Pilot Academy (ab initio)

Applications are online with a candidate profile. Assessment runs in four stages: pilot aptitude test and psychological assessment online, then a group exercise and personal interview in person at the Wizz Air Training Centre in Budapest — candidates pay their own travel and accommodation. A financial and background check on the candidate AND their guarantor closes the process. The TestAir 360 aptitude test carries a EUR 130 recruitment fee, which unlocks preparation material. A Class 1 medical and criminal record are not needed at assessment, only before enrolling. Successful candidates may choose a start date within a year.
