(Refer to figure 8.) Determine the pressure altitude with an indicated altitude of 1,380 feet MSL with an altimeter setting of 28.22 at standard temperature.

FAA Figure 8Density altitude chartFAA-CT-8080-2H · Sport, Recreational, Private & Remote Pilot supplement
How to read it: Start at the outside air temperature on the bottom, go up to the pressure-altitude diagonal, then left to read density altitude. The right-hand table converts altimeter setting to pressure altitude.
A

2,913 feet MSL.

B

2,991 feet MSL.✓ Correct Answer

C

3,010 feet MSL.

Explanation

The Figure 8 table gives +1,630 feet for 28.2 and +1,533 for 28.3, so 28.22 is about 1,630 - 19 = +1,611 feet. Pressure altitude = 1,380 + 1,611 = about 2,991 feet. (Temperature does not enter into pressure altitude.)
